Dice Ailes with roots in the Oyo royal family, in a statement issued in Abuja on Wednesday, spoke recently in Lagos when the newly crowned Aseyin of Iseyin, Oba Sefiu Olawale Oyebola Adeyeri III, visited Lagos.

During the visit, the Aseyin also met with the Oniru of Iru, Oba Abdulwasiu Omogbbolahan Lawal.

Dice Ailes emphasised the importance of such royal visits in fostering cultural exchange among different Yoruba regions.

He highlighted how the interactions contributed to preserving the rich heritage of the Yoruba people, saying that the Yoruba royal tradition was adapting to contemporary realities, with kings embracing modern tools like social media to expand their reach and voices while maintaining core values and customs.

Dice Ailes said the integration of Yoruba language, sounds, and cultural identifiers into his music was a testament to his commitment to cultural preservation.

He noted that he leverages his musical platform to promote the richness and positivity of Yoruba culture and the monarchy.

Addressing the Yoruba youth, Dice Ailes underscored the significance of tradition, and described it as a bridge connecting them to their ancestors and legacy, fostering a sense of unity and belonging.

He stated that embracing the tradition will provide stability and a deeper understanding of the essence and heritage of the Yoruba people.

“Oba Sefiu’s visit served not only as a means of familiarisation with established Yoruba leaders but also as a reaffirmation of the unity and strength of the Yoruba kingdom.

“The historic ties between Lagos and Oyo were reinforced during this significant interaction, symbolizing peace and respect within the Yoruba community and beyond,” the young musician stated.
