The president of the Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (NACCIMA), Engr. Jani Ibrahim, has been elected president of the Federation of West African Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FEWACCI).
The Offa-Kwara-born Ibrahim emerged as FEWACCI president in a keenly contested election, according to NACCIMA director-general, Engr. Olusola Obadimu.
Ibrahim’s election places a Nigerian at the helm of the regional body representing chambers of commerce and industry across West Africa, with a mandate expected to focus on strengthening private-sector cooperation and regional trade.
Obadimu described the development as a significant milestone for Nigeria and the organised private sector in the region, citing Ibrahim’s leadership experience, strategic vision and commitment to private-sector development.
As FEWACCI president, he said Ibrahim is expected to advance cooperation among chambers of commerce, strengthen regional economic integration and promote intra-West African trade.
He said Ibrahim’s administration would also champion policies to support enterprise growth and shared prosperity across the sub-region.
According to him, Ibrahim’s emergence would further reinforce Nigeria’s leadership role in regional commerce and position FEWACCI for stronger partnerships and purposeful engagement towards sustainable economic development.
“The federation’s new leadership is also expected to provide a platform for greater collaboration among private-sector organisations across West Africa on issues affecting trade, investment and business development,” he added.
