The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) under the Air Component of Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK) has struck two terrorist strongholds in the Sambisa general area and Southern Tumbuns of Borno State.

The airstrikes conducted on 15 April, 2025, followed confirmed intelligence of high-value terrorist commanders in the area where several structures, some equipped with solar panels, were identified as active terrorist hubs.

NAF spokesman, Air Cdre Ehimen Ejodame in a statement said the first strike was carried out at approximately 5:30am in Kollaram, a known stronghold of insurgents.

Air Cdre Ejodame said the strike followed intelligence reports, supported by surveillance footage which confirmed the presence of prime terrorist commanders in the area.

Following the confirmation, he said the Nigerian Air Force assets carried out a precision strike on the location, “eliminating several fighters and disabling key infrastructure”.

Ejodame said a second precision strike followed at about 3:55pm at Arra in Sambisa.

According to the Director, the strike was authorised after Intelligence Surveillance and Reconnaissance missions had earlier detected clusters of terrorists, and real-time visuals confirmed the significant presence.

“Precision-guided munitions were employed, resulting in the effective destruction of targets and disruption of the group’s operational capabilities.

“These back-to-back missions are part of a sustained air campaign designed to erode terrorist capabilities, dismantle leadership structures, and eliminate sanctuaries across Nigeria,” he said.

He reiterated that NAF remains committed to ensuring that no location within the country offers safe haven to terrorists.
