Nigerian Air Force (NAF) says its aircraft deployed under “Operation FANSAN YAMMA” Sector 1 carried out a series of precision air strikes from June 24 to 26 in support of ground troops, targeting terrorists behind recent attacks in Niger State.
The terrorists had killed 17 soldiers and injured 10 others in the state on June 24.
A statement by the NAF spokesman, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, said the airstrike on June 26 followed credible intelligence with inter-service and inter-agency cooperation that identified terrorist activities involving attacks and cattle rustling in Kakihun and Kumbashi communities.
He said the air component swiftly deploying air assets executed multiple waves of precision strikes that neutralised scores of terrorists, destroyed their logistics and disrupted regrouping efforts.
He reassured that the Nigerian Air Force remained committed to protecting the lives and property of all Nigerians and ensuring lasting peace across the country.
