The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has warned tour operators, intending pilgrims and the general public against individuals posing as its officials or agents and demanding money in exchange for guaranteed 2027 hajj slots.

In a circular issued in Abuja, the commission said no individual, agent, tour operator or intermediary is authorised to collect payments, facilitation fees or additional charges from intending pilgrims or tour operators to secure, guarantee or influence special hajj slot allocations.

NAHCON said hajj slots are allocated strictly in line with approved procedures and established guidelines governing the licensing and operations of tour operators.

It therefore cautioned stakeholders against dealing with anyone who solicits money in return for guaranteed hajj slots, describing such activities as illegal and unauthorised.

The commission urged anyone approached by suspected fraudsters to report them to the police or other relevant law enforcement agencies.

NAHCON also advised intending pilgrims to make payments only through officially approved channels, including state Pilgrims welfare agencies, designated Hajj Savings Banks and duly licensed tour operators.

Prospective pilgrims were also advised to ignore unsolicited calls, messages or requests for additional payments purportedly connected to hajj slot allocations and to rely solely on official announcements from NAHCON and other authorised hajj bodies.

The Commission reminded stakeholders that allocated Hajj slots will be forfeited if pilgrims’ data are not uploaded by 26 September 2026 and the required remittances are not completed by 2 December 2026, regardless of promises or assurances from unauthorised individuals.
