The National Association of Ogun State Students (NAOSS) has attributed the sterling performances of Tobi Amusan at the World Athletics Championship, held in Eugene, Oregon, USA and the Commonwealth Games, in Birmingham, United Kingdom to the unalloyed support given to her by Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun.
Abiodun had not only adopted the Ogun State born athlete in 2020, but also supported her leading to her record breaking performances at the international sports events.
Amusan had done Ogun State and Nigeria proud by not only winning the 100 metres huddle at both World Athletics Championship and the Commonwealth Games, but also set world records.
NAOSS in a statement by its National President, Comrade Oluwagbemileke Ogunrombi in Abeokuta on Sunday, said Amusan’s world-class performance is a testament to the fact that Ogun State is at the forefront of sports and youth development.
Ogunrombi said, Amusan’s exploits at the world sports events, would not have been possible without the governor’s support for sports and youth development.
While describing Amusan as a beacon of hope to Nigerian youths, Ogunrombi urged other youths to emulate Amusan’s “never say never” attitude and contribute their quotas to the development of the State.
“It is on record that Governor Dapo Abiodun has remain a big supporter of Tobi Amusan. The governor’s support and investment in Amusan have brought about this huge success we are all celebrating today.
“Governor Abiodun’s huge investment in sports and youth development has again yeilded another good result in Tobi Amusan.
“This has gone to show that Ogun State is setting the pace in sports, ICT, student empowerment and youth development among others.
“The Dapo Abiodun – led administration is providing a good atmosphere for youths to develop themselves in their chosen field of career and this is highly commendable.”
