The leadership of the National Association of Polytechnic Students (NAPS) has commended the executive secretary (ES)  of the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) Professor Idris Bugaje for his visionary leadership and unwavering commitment to rejuvenating polytechnic education in Nigeria.

President of the student body, Comrade Eshiofune Paul Oghayan in a statement said, Prof Bugaje’s progressive initiatives have rekindled hope among students and stakeholders, positioning technical and vocational education as a formidable pillar for national development.

The president said, as an organization that champions the welfare and advancement of polytechnic students nationwide, they proudly stand with the ES and pledge their continuous partnership in actualizing the renewed vision for the sector.

“In furtherance of this commitment, NAPS is set to embark on a massive nationwide campus tour aimed at sensitizing students on the importance of embracing the National Skills Qualification (NSQ) framework and other forward-thinking programs initiated by the ES.

“Additionally, we are lending our voice to the call for the transition from the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) to the National Commission for Technical Education (NCTE). We believe this evolution will further streamline policies, enhance curriculum development, and deepen industry-academic collaboration, ultimately raising the standard of technical education in the country.

“We also use this medium to express our gratitude to the ES for the employment opportunity given to one of our respected leaders — a gesture that demonstrates his inclusive leadership and genuine interest in student empowerment. In light of this, we urge the ES to disregard any miscreants or faceless individuals parading themselves under the guise of NAPS to discredit individuals or misrepresent our unified stance”.

The NAPS  president said as a body they remain focused on building a credible, progressive, and collaborative front with progressive minds like Prof. Bugaje  for the collective interest of technical students and the educational system at large.
