The association’s Capoon, Sahara Deck, Olamide Oni, made this known recently in Abuja.

Oni who noted that societies which have made tremendous progress in the course of human history, are those that paid great attention and made investment in the education of it’s people, said same cannot be said for Nigeria.

“Within the Abuja City Center, where we operate, we have noted that attaining literacy especially among the young people is still a long way off the mark. With the proliferation of IDP camps, street hawking and rising cases of out of school children, we need to work extra hard to attain a respectable level of literacy in the country and the FCT in particular.”

We call on the Minister of FCT to take Education as a priority area in his administration. It is our belief that with deliberate efforts geared at addressing issues around the identified areas, we will set in motion a chain of events that will guarantee that the literacy level of the citizens in the FCT improves significantly,” he stated.
