The All Progressives Congress ( APC) in Nasarawa State says it only recognises Ibrahim Balarabe Abdullahi as speaker of the 7th State House of Assembly.
It’s chairman, Mr. John Mamman, made the party’s position known when he led other officials on a congratulatory visit to Abdullahi in Lafia yesterday.
The crisis over the leadership of the 7th Assembly has led to emergence of two camps both of which are laying claim to the speakership position.
The camps are led by Abdullahi and Daniel Ogah Ogazi.
However, Mr. Mamman said such tussle is normal in politics and not new.
He said Abdullahi had earned the party’s respect through his antecedents as a unifier and bridge-builder, adding that such leadership quality was required at the 7th Assembly.
He also said Abdullahi had been able to establish and entrench a harmonious working relationship between the legislative and executive arms of government, noting that it was only reasonable to support him to further strengthen the bond for the benefit of the state and its people.
He called on all lawmakers to rally round Abdullahi in the interest of the state.
Responding, Abdullahi commended the party for standing by him, while promising that the lawmakers would continue to initiate laws that will have direct bearing on the lives of the masses.
He expressed optimism that the ongoing crisis would be laid to rest soon in the interest of peace and development of the state.
