Authorities of Toto local government area of Nasarawa State have taken steps to integrate Bassa returnees and other displaced persons into the community.
The chairman of the council, Ahmed Baba Yahaya, told LEADERSHIP yesterday that his administration was working on the directive of Governor Abdullahi Sule to ensure peaceful coexistence among all groups.
The victims returned to base in February 2025 after several years of displacement following a communal clash which engulfed the area.
Yahaya said the resettlement had been seamless and appreciated Governor Sule, His Royal Highness, the Ohimegye of Opanda and other leaders of the area for their support in the integration plan.
The chairman, however, denied media reports of a planned return of another batch of internally displaced persons to Toto on 15th December, 2025.
He said the council, in collaboration with the state government, would always welcome displaced persons back to base, but noted that there had been no official arrangement to receive any of such at the moment, as alleged.
The chairman said the council would work with security agencies to monitor the situation and ensure that the ongoing peace-building efforts in Toto were not disrupted.
