An All Progressives Congress (APC’s) governorship aspirant in Nasarawa State, Dr Muhammad Maikaya, has provided scholarships to over 5,000 students across the state.
The aspirant told journalists that the beneficiaries were from low-income backgrounds across the state’s 13 local government areas.
He disclosed that 500 youths were also recently trained in various skills and empowered to set up their own businesses.
The aspirant explained that the interventions, coordinated through the Maikaya Development Foundation, were part of his contribution to manpower development in his home state.
He said, beyond education and skill development, the foundation has installed solar-powered boreholes, enrolled 750 indigent persons in the Nasarawa Health Insurance Scheme, provided solar-powered electricity to markets, and consistently supported widows, farmers, and students through empowerment programmes across various LGs of the state.
He challenged those aspiring to rule to let their track records speak for them, stressing that his desire to add value to society remains his greatest source of fulfilment.
“If I have had enough of what I can eat, I do not think it’s right to watch the next person go hungry. For me, it’s continuously adding value to society, continually asking how I can make somebody happier, how I can make society better,” he stated.
