Nasarawa State government delegation on study tour to Bayelsa Trust Fund has scored the Bayelsa State Education Development Trust Fund (EDTF) Board high after concluding a three-day visit to understudy the law that established the EDTF, its operations, including policies and programmes.
Hon. Abubakar Idris Adamu, Special Assistant to the Governor on Education, gave the commendation in Bolou-Orua, venue for the 12th batch of the state’s Teachers Training Programme organised by the Bayelsa State Teachers Training Registration and Certification Board (TTCRB). As part of the projects and programs funded by the EDTF, they visited for sightseeing.
He said, “We appreciate the Bayelsa State Government for establishing the EDTF Board. From what we have seen and understood, we will present seventy per cent of the Bayelsa State Education Development Trust Fund’s policies and programmes to the Governor for implementation.
“The idea of introducing skills and training for secondary school students and those in the technical schools in Bayelsa State is top-notch.”
In his remarks, the acting chairman of the EDTF, Professor Francis Sikoki, welcomed the Nasarawa State government’s delegation for choosing Bayelsa for its study. He noted that the delegation chose Bayelsa because the EDTF has done well.
Prof Sikoki charged the board members to keep their spirits high.
The executive ecretary of the Bayelsa Education Development Trust Fund (EDTF) Board, Dr. Mrs. Alice A. Atuwo, appreciated the delegation’s foresight in conducting the tour to study existing Trust Funds.
According to her, there was every need to tap into others’ experiences, and she stated that the EDTF did the same when it was newly established.
The high point of the study tour was the cross-examination of EDTF’s establishment law, presentations from various Units and Committees, questions/answers session and sightseeing of EDTF interventions in multiple schools and programmes.
