A political support group, the Renewed Hope Grassroots Movement, has endorsed former vice chairman of the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI), Prof. Mohammad Sani Haruna, for the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship ticket ahead of the 2027 elections in Nasarawa State.
The group described him as the party’s “best bet” to lead the state into an era of industrial and technological transformation, citing his record in driving key federal investments and institutional projects in the state.
Speaking at a press conference in Lafia on Saturday, the state secretary of the group, Umar Abdullahi, said the endorsement was based on Haruna’s performance and contributions to industrial development and youth empowerment.
He noted that Haruna played a key role in attracting major federal projects to Nasarawa State, including the Agricultural Equipment and Machinery Development Institute (AMEDI) in Lafia and the Solid Minerals Machinery and Equipment Development Institute (SOMMEDI), which he said strengthened the state’s industrial base.
Abdullahi also highlighted the establishment of the NASENI Solar Modules Manufacturing Plant in Karshi, describing it as a major step toward boosting local solar panel production and advancing Nigeria’s clean energy transition.
He further said Haruna facilitated employment opportunities for more than 1,000 youths across NASENI and other federal agencies, describing it as evidence of his commitment to human capital development.
According to him, these interventions have positioned Nasarawa as a growing hub for industrial and technological advancement, while laying the foundation for sustainable economic growth and job creation.
The group maintained that Haruna possesses the experience and leadership capacity required to align Nasarawa State with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, insisting that competence must guide political choices ahead of 2027.
“In 2027, competence must speak louder than politics,” Abdullahi said. “Our endorsement is rooted in results, not rhetoric.”
He added that Haruna’s track record demonstrates “vision, capacity, and commitment to transforming Nasarawa from a civil service state into an industrial and technology hub.”
The group also disclosed that it has mobilised support structures across the 13 local government areas and 147 wards of the state ahead of the governorship race.
It urged the All Progressives Congress (APC) to ensure a level playing field for all aspirants, while calling on party members to support candidates with proven capacity to deliver development and sustain existing federal projects.
