The Nasarawa State Police Command has distributed Group Life Assurance and Group Personal Accident benefits totalling N30,845,424.03 to families of police officers who died while serving under the command.
The cheques were presented by the Commissioner of Police, CP Shetima Jauro Mohammed, at the state police command on Wednesday, September 16, 2026.
The development was disclosed in a statement signed by the command’s Police Public Relations Officer, SP Ramhan Nanselon.
The financial assistance is aimed at cushioning the impact of the loss on the families of the deceased officers and providing support for their welfare.
While presenting the cheques, Mohammed commended the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, for what he described as his continued commitment to the welfare and well-being of police officers and their families.
The commissioner said the payment underscored the Nigeria Police Force’s commitment to supporting families of officers who paid the ultimate price in the line of duty.
He urged the beneficiaries to manage the funds judiciously and consider investing part of the money in sustainable ventures that could provide a steady source of income and improve their families’ standard of living.
Mohammed also encouraged the beneficiaries to deploy the financial support responsibly, noting that it could help strengthen their families’ economic stability and create better opportunities for their children.
