Nasarawa State Governor Abdullahi Sule has expressed readiness to establish the Nasarawa State Facilities Management Agency to ensure sustainability of the massive infrastructure development being put in place by his administration.
The governor disclosed this at an induction and training ceremony organised by the Institute of Global Facilities Management for new members at the Federal Polytechnic, Nasarawa, Nasarawa State at the weekend.
The governor who was represented by the commissioner for water resources, Alhaji Abubakar Odah Akum, was honoured with the Honorary Fellow of the Institute.
Highlighting the past, present and the future of the institute, the president of the Institute, Omachi Jonah, stressed the importance of establishing a facilities management agency in the state, citing similar ones Kaduna and Lagos.
He enjoined the governor to do same which according to him, would help keep tabs on the infrastructure he is putting on ground.
He added that if the agency is established, it would help check the menace of poor maintenance culture prevalent in the country, even long after the governor has left office.
The commissioner on behalf of the governor commended the initiative of the institute, expressing the commitment to put machineries in motion for the establishment of the agency. He extended a hand of fellowship to the institute whose collaboration he said was integral to the realisation of the agency.
