The National Assembly Service Commission has assured the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations of its full support towards the successful hosting of the World Public Relations Forum billed for November in Abuja.

The forum, convened under the auspices of the Global Alliance for Public Relations and Communication Management, is a premier global platform that brings together communication professionals, policymakers, academics, and business leaders to examine emerging industry trends, ethics, and innovation.

Nigeria recently secured the hosting rights for the prestigious 3-in-1 event, expected to draw participants from around 150 countries.

During a courtesy visit on Wednesday, Acting President of the NIPR, Emmanuel Dandaura, led members of the National Planning Committee to brief the NASC Chairman, Saviour Enyiekere, and seek deeper institutional collaboration.

Enyiekere commended the Institute’s efforts, describing the hosting opportunity as timely and strategic for Nigeria’s global image and communication reforms. He said the Commission is fully prepared to work with the NIPR to ensure a seamless and impactful outing.

“It is a great feat to bring the world to Nigeria at a time when many foreigners express concerns about visiting because of insecurity,” he stated. “You have done a commendable job.”

Prof. Dandaura explained that hosting the WPRF would enable Nigeria to showcase its professional competence, cultural richness, and commitment to global communication standards.

According to him, the event will further position Abuja as an emerging continental hub for strategic communication while boosting tourism, international partnerships, and investment interest.

The Institute emphasised the need for government agencies to comply with existing regulations, especially the provisions prohibiting non-professionals from serving as spokespersons or protocol officers without proper qualification and registration.

It also encouraged the NASC to enrol its public relations personnel in the Institute’s training and capacity-building programmes, and to sponsor them for NIPR activities to enhance professionalism and productivity.

The NIPR further invited the NASC Chairman to participate in a dedicated WPRF session in the legislature.

The visit was coordinated by the WPRF-NIPR Legislature Team in collaboration with the NASC Department of Public Affairs.
