Ohanaeze Ndigbo has urged Igbo lawmakers in the National Assembly to vote according to their discretion irrespective of state, religion or  ethnicity during elections for leadership positions in the assembly.

A statement issued yesterday by the publicity secretary of the body, Dr. Alex Ogbonnia, noted that the organisation  had watched with grave concern, the zoning of principal officers of the senate and House of Representatives.

Ogbonnia said they had also observed that the APC zoned the position of  deputy speaker to the South East.

He said allocating the position to the zone was highly unreflective, disgusting and provocative to the Igbo.

“To this end, the Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide led by Chief Engr. Dr. Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu (Ahaejiagamba) directs all Igbo lawmakers in the 10th National Assembly to vote according to their discretions irrespective of state, religion or ethnicity,” he stated.
