Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, representing Kogi Central Senatorial District, has reaffirmed her commitment to visiting her constituency for the Sallah celebrations despite speculation suggesting otherwise.
In a statement issued by her media team yesterday, the senator clarified that there has been no official cancellation of her planned visit, urging her supporters to disregard misleading reports and prepare to celebrate Eid-el-Fitr with her.
“We are pleased to confirm that Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan’s Sallah visit to Kogi Central Senatorial District will proceed as planned. Despite rumours circulating online, there has been no official announcement from our office regarding the cancellation of this visit,” the statement read.
Reaffirming her role as the representative of Kogi Central, Akpoti-Uduaghan emphasized her dedication to engaging with her constituents and strengthening community ties.
“As the senator representing Kogi Central, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan remains committed to engaging with her community and fostering a spirit of unity and cooperation. Her dedication to the people of Kogi Central is unwavering, and she looks forward to celebrating Eid-el-Fitr with her constituents,” she said.
She also assured the public that adequate arrangements had been put in place to ensure a peaceful and successful celebration, encouraging community members to turn out in large numbers.
The senator’s announcement comes just hours after the Kogi State Government imposed a ban on rallies and public gatherings, citing security concerns. In a statement released on Monday, the state’s Commissioner for Information, Kingsley Fanwo, warned against potential unrest and alleged plans by some individuals to stage violent protests disguised as political or religious activities in Kogi Central.
Additionally, the government halted fishing activities following incidents that led to the loss of two lives in Kasemiya, Katubo, and Umozu Ette, all in Kogi local government area.
Despite the government’s restrictions, Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan has assured her constituents that her visit will be peaceful and focused on celebrating the spirit of Sallah
