Senator Natasha Hadiza Akpoti-Uduaghan, who represents Kogi Central Senatorial District, has congratulated Mrs. Badejo-Okusanya, SAN, on her historic election as the 2nd elected female President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) 35 years after.

In a goodwill message released on Sunday, the senator described the development as a watershed moment for the legal profession and the country, noting that the achievement reflects the enduring values of competence, excellence, resilience, and integrity.

She said the election was more than a personal triumph for the newly elected NBA President, adding that it represents a significant breakthrough for women aspiring to leadership positions across Nigeria.

“Hearty congratulations to Mrs. Badejo-Okusanya, SAN, on her historic election as the 2nd elected female President of the Nigerian Bar Association since its establishment in 1960,” Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan said.

According to the lawmaker, the landmark victory demonstrates that merit and dedication remain the true pathways to leadership, irrespective of gender.

“This remarkable achievement is not only a personal victory but a defining moment for the legal profession and for Nigeria. It affirms that competence, excellence, resilience, and character will always find their rightful place,” she stated.

Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan further said the election carries profound significance for Nigerian women and girls, expressing hope that it would encourage more women to pursue leadership roles in their chosen professions.

“Her election sends a powerful message to every girl and woman across our nation: that leadership has no gender, and that barriers which stood for generations can indeed be broken,” she added.

The senator, who described herself as a fellow woman in public service, expressed confidence in the capacity of the new NBA President to provide visionary leadership for the association while advancing the cause of justice and the rule of law.

“As a fellow woman in public service, I celebrate this milestone with great pride and optimism. May your tenure strengthen the Bar, uphold the rule of law, and inspire a new generation of women to aspire, lead, and serve with distinction,” she said.

She concluded her message by wishing the newly elected NBA President a successful tenure.

“Congratulations once again, Madam President,” Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan said.
