A communique issued in Abuja on Friday on behalf of the National, zonal and state coordinators by the commission’s media office said all staff and members of NATCOM after critical assessment of Dr. Baba’s leadership capacity and his firm belief in due process and rule of law , has no choice but to pass a vote of confidence on him to continue his good work as the Director General (DG) .

The communique described him as a seasoned administrator, and public servant of great repute who flaunts impressive and unblemished track records throughout his career in the civil service and as exemplified in his submission to the public hearing of the bill for the establishment of NATCOM in line with ECOWAS protocol.

The statement further stated that having Mohammed as the DG did not surprise various stakeholders who have followed his trajectory in service and his immense contributions to NATCOM.

“Dr Baba Mohammed is a firm believer of due process and a leader with a sound knowledge of the rule of law, having noticed the illegality contained in the operation of NATFORCE and consequential implications of such activities, he defended a bill before the 9th National Assembly seeking the establishment of a national commission for the proliferation of small arms, ammunition and light weapons bill 2020 (SB. 283) in line with ECOWAS convention.

It further appreciated the nation’s leadership at all levels as well as officers and men of the commission for believing and keeping faith in NATCOM,” .

The communique further stated that the nation stands to gain immensely in its efforts to solving the problems of insecurity, unemployment and poverty when NATCOM is fully realized.

A robust economy will also be in place going forward as leakages in some sectors are expected to be blocked.
