The National Commission for the Coordination and Control of the Proliferation of Small Arms, Ammunition, and Light Weapons (NATCOM) has officially refuted claims made by a faceless group, that alleged that Dr. Baba Mohammed, the Director-General (DG) of NATCOM, had been suspended.

The refutation was provided in a statement released to journalists by NATCOM’s Coordinating Director of the Human Resources Department, Mr. David Olaitan Oladimeji.

The key points of the refutation are as follows: “NATCOM has taken note of a poorly written and published story by a faceless group with the intent to deceive the general public. We are issuing this statement to set the record straight.”

Oladimeji emphasized that “the statement and caption from the faceless group can only be described as false, fake, fraudulent, mischievous, malicious, and misleading. These allegations are a product of the imagination of certain mischievous individuals seeking to create unnecessary alarms and confusion.”

NATCOM confirmed that Dr. Baba Mohammed had not been suspended and continues to lead the commission. NATCOM remains committed to its mission of coordinating and controlling the proliferation of small arms, ammunition, and light weapons in Nigeria.

The commission also called on its representatives and all well-meaning Nigerians to remain focused and patriotic in their support of NATCOM’s objectives.
