The National Board for Technical Education (NBTE), has appealed to the Federal Government to allocate more funds to technical education in the country.
The Director of Polytechnic Programmes, NBTE, Arch Ngbede Ogoh made the plea when he led a team delegation for the resource inspection of ten programmes at the Federal Polytechnic, Daura in Katsina State.
He said the acquisition of skills has become the major requisite for every sustainable economic development of a nation, and Polytechnic education has often been seen as the best place for the youths to develop their skills and knowledge.
This according to him, explained the need to have more funding for Polytechnics coupled with the cost of equipment, so that more youth will be able to pick up the skills to sustain and develop themselves.
“That is why we are appealing to the government to increase more funding to all Polytechnics across the country to be among the best in the world”, he said.
Earlier, the Rector of the Polytechnic, Prof Aliyu Mamman, said the young Polytechnic seek approval of the ten programmes in line with the agitation and plea by a member of the community seeking the tourist attraction in Daura town to be properly harnessed in order to generate more fund for the government.
