The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has elected Chidi Mike Anyanwu as its candidate for the Okigwe North Federal Constituency seat in the House of Representatives for next year’s election.

Anyanwu emerged after the party’s nomination process, securing the backing of delegates and stakeholders who said his candidacy reflected growing calls for leadership focused on service, accountability and grassroots development.

After his emergence, Anyanwu pledged to run a people-oriented campaign.

“Our campaign will focus on job creation, youth empowerment, infrastructure development, education and economic inclusion,” he said.

He said elections should offer citizens the opportunity to shape their future through leaders who understand their challenges.

“Elections should provide an opportunity for citizens to redefine their future through leaders who understand their challenges and are prepared to translate public aspirations into legislative action,” he added.

Political observers said the party’s choice was aimed at positioning the NDC as a credible alternative in the constituency through issue-based politics and grassroots engagement.
