The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) has concluded its Foreign Postgraduate Scholarship Testimonial Series, spotlighting the remarkable achievements of its beneficiaries and the programme’s broader impact on the Niger Delta region.

Launched to build capacity and bridge developmental gaps, the scholarship has empowered hundreds of young professionals to pursue postgraduate degrees in critical fields such as Engineering, Public Health, Environmental Science, and Renewable Energy at top global universities.

Throughout the series, alumni shared compelling stories of academic success, career advancement, and community development.

A UK-trained Environmental Scientist, Adaobi Nwankwo, now leads a team rehabilitating oil spill sites in Rivers State.

“Studying Environmental Pollution Control in the UK equipped me with cutting-edge strategies. Today, I’m helping restore community health,” she said.

In Germany, Chike Okafor specialised in solar energy at TU Munich. “The scholarship enabled me to return home and collaborate with local governments to install solar grids in Delta’s rural communities,” he noted.
Efua Green, a McGill University graduate in Public Health, now trains healthcare workers in Bayelsa, improving maternal health outcomes.

“My MPH transformed how I approach healthcare delivery,” she said.
Since its inception, the NDDC Foreign Postgraduate Scholarship has trained over 500 scholars across various disciplines.

These graduates have gone on to establish more than 50 grassroots initiatives—ranging from tech hubs and health clinics to clean water projects—directly addressing pressing local needs.
Beyond community impact, the programme has fostered a new generation of global citizens returning home with international expertise and networks, fueling regional innovation and development.

The testimonial series underlines the transformative power of education in addressing systemic challenges and driving long-term change in the Niger Delta.
