Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) has commenced a two-day workshop focusing on wage administration, policy implementation, and revenue generation within the public service.
In his opening address, NDDC managing director and CEO, Dr Samuel Ogbuku emphasised the critical nature of wage administration in the national discourse.
“Since the inception of this Board, staff welfare has remained our priority. This workforce must be equipped with skills, knowledge, and motivation provided by sustainable living wages to drive the commission’s efforts in fulfilling its mandate for the region,” Dr Ogbuku stated.
The chairman and CEO of the National Salaries, Income, and Wages Commission, Mr Ekpo Nta delivered an insightful exposition on the subject.
He highlighted the importance of leadership conduct driven by ethics and integrity, asserting that all organisations, including the NDDC, would benefit from such principles.
“The structures supporting genuine ethical conduct must be in a fair rewards system. Access to minimum acceptable standards that provide a decent livelihood to citizens should be emulated,” Mr Nta said.
The workshop aims to equip participants with the necessary tools to enhance wage administration and revenue generation, ultimately contributing to the NDDC’s mission to improve the Niger Delta region.
