The commission commended the Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) for its solidarity and support during a courtesy visit to the NDDC headquarters.

Addressing the IYC delegation on behalf of the managing director, Dr. Samuel Ogbuku, the executive director of Projects, Sir Victor Antai, commended the council’s unwavering support.

Antai described Dr. Ogbuku’s leadership as transformative, citing the commission’s intervention on the East-West Road between Bayelsa and Rivers State as a testament to its developmental strides.

He stressed the need for stakeholders across the Niger Delta to work together, emphasizing that collective action is crucial for the region’s progress.

The IYC vice president, Freedom Atigbi, who led the delegation, distanced the council from a faction of youths reportedly planning protests against the NDDC.

Atigbi reiterated the council’s dedication to promoting peace and collaboration, pledging its support for the commission’s initiatives.

The meeting, attended by NDDC management and staff, underscored the shared goal of advancing the Niger Delta through unity, dialogue, and innovative leadership.
