National Directorate of Employment (NDE) has restated its commitment to train unemployed youth, women and other Nigerians in order to tackle unemployment in the country.
The director-general, Mallam Nuhu Fikpo Abubakar, stated this at the flag off of a three-day training programme on “Goat meat production” organised by Osun NDE for 50 unemployed beneficiaries in the state.
According to him, the directorate has designed new schemes for the unemployed people in a bid to curb mass unemployment in the country.
The DG who spoke through the state coordinator, Mr Fakunle Julius, further disclosed that Osun State is among the 11 states picked for the elaborate training programme adding that the directorate focused goat production with its value chains having identified the health hazards posed by consumption of red meat by aged persons.
Also, Mrs Tola Olaoye, who represented REP department director, said the training programme will equip participants with skills such as beef production, selling of its bones as a by-product for other productions such as tooth paste, plate production, decays for manure and skins for leather making among others.
