The director general of the NDE, Abubakar Nuhu Fikpo, while addressing trainees during the flag-off of the training in FCT said the program was part of its numerous poverty eradication initiatives geared towards providing employment opportunities to better the lives of people in the society and reduce poverty in the land.

The director general of the NDE who was represented by Mrs Anita Obetta of the NDE national headquarters said the 30 beneficiaries had been trained in the past by the agency on how to turn waste products in the environment to useful and money-making ventures, adding that the 4 days training is basically to expose the beneficiaries to basic knowledge of starting, financing and running business ventures from the skills acquired to make them financial independent and in turn create job opportunities for others.

In the same vein the NDE- FCT state coordinator, Mr. Chimereze Noble said the main objective of the training is to acquaint the beneficiaries with the knowledge required to start, run and sustain a business successfully and charged beneficiaries not to take the opportunity for granted but should be committed to the training by ensuring that they pay rapt attention throughout the course of the training so as to benefit from the objective of the training to become successful entrepreneurs.

“Acquiring skills is good, but understanding how to set up a small business from the skills so acquired is what will improve the livelihoods of the beneficiaries and equally generate business and employment opportunities for others”, he noted.
