The Nigerians in the Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM) is optimistic about the inflow of more investment into the country as the commission prepares to host the 2025 Nigeria Diaspora Investment Summit (NDIS) in November 2025.

Dr. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, Chairman/CEO of NiDCOM, expressed this hope even as she called on Nigerians in the diaspora and those at home, to seize emerging investment opportunities through NDIS and invest massively for Nigeria’s economic development as over N673 million worth in Diaspora Investment Deals were recorded in 2024.

She stated this at a Joint World Press Conference ahead of the NDIS scheduled for November 11-13, 2025 in Abuja, with the theme: “Fast Tracking Regional & National Development By Mobilising Diaspora Investment”, at the NiDCOM Headquarters in Abuja on Friday.

The NIDCOM boss underscored the success of the 2024 edition, which recorded over 1,500 participants, including 236 investors and 1,197 business owners.

She said “the Creative, Entertainment, and Sport sector stole the spotlight with 39 deals, showing just how much talent and energy Nigeria has to offer. But when it came to big money, Infrastructure and Real Estate led the way, securing about ₦201 million across 22 deals. Energy, though quieter with just four deals, still drew an impressive ₦172 million. Agribusiness made its mark too, with 28 deals bringing in ₦103 million.”

She noted that across the world, Nigerians are excelling in education, business, healthcare, technology, sports, and the creative industries. Yet their greatest impact is not measured only by their achievements abroad, but by how their skills, resources, and networks can be channeled back home to drive growth and development in every part of Nigeria. “This is precisely where the Nigeria Diaspora Investment Summit (NDIS) comes in,” she said.

She said that “With the active involvement of key government agencies and regulators, diaspora investors are assured that their investments are shielded and their engagements are structured, credible, and aligned with Nigeria’s national development priorities.

“It is this strong foundation of trust and accountability that explains why, with every edition, NDIS continues to attract growing participation from both diaspora and international investors and local businesses.”

The former lawmaker noted that several state governments, including Ondo, Nasarawa, and Borno, have taken advantage of the Summit in previous years, to attract investors and advance major development projects, such as Ondo’s port initiative which later gained Federal Government approval.

She announced that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, will serve as the Special Guest of Honour, while commending long-standing partners such as DTCA, NIPC, First Bank, NNPC and AG Mortgage and the Media, for their continued support.

Dr. Badewa Adejugbe-Williams, Chairperson of the Nigeria Diaspora Summit Initiative (NDSI), in her remarks said the NDIS has served as a vital bridge, attracting investments and unlocking the vast potential of the diaspora for Nigeria’s development.

She added that this year’s theme aligns perfectly with the Renewed Hope Agenda, which seeks to diversify the nation’s economy and drive inclusive growth and sustainable development.

Dr. Adejugbe-Williams urged new sponsors, investors, and media partners to amplify the message of the Summit and take advantage of the opportunities it presents.
