NDLEA Seizes 4,880.707 45 kg Of Illicit Drugs, Arrests 536 In Adamawa

The Adamawa Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has seized 4,880.707 45 kilograms of drugs and arrested 536 persons in connection with the seized illicit drugs in 2024.

Briefing journalists in Yola on Monday, the state commandant, Agboola Samson, listed the illicit drugs seized as 3,180.36422 kg of cannabis sativa, methamphetamine 0.0381, cocaine, formalin, Akuskura herbal mixture and 1,700.29013 kilograms of psychotropic substances.

Others are tramadol, diazepam, Exol-5, cough syrup, Pentazocine, D5 tablets, Chloroquine Injections, Analgin and Lidocaine Injections.

Samson said the command secured 148 convictions consisting of 143 male offenders and five females.
He said the conviction sentences range from 25 years imprisonment to a minimum of three months.

He added that 59 cases are still pending at the federal high court, with cannabis sativa being the most prosecuted substance.

In a quest to dismantle drug traffic networks, the command achieved the interim forfeiture of four vehicles used for transporting drugs, and a monetary exhibit of N1,207,268.00 was forfeited to the federal government.

The commandant further states that 52 clients were admitted for counselling and rehabilitation during the year under review.
