Following the resurgence of attacks in parts of Gwoza in Gwoza local government area, the senator representing Southern Borno Senatorial District at the National Assembly, Ali Ndume, has urged the residents of Gwoza to unite and collaborate with the Nigerian military to defeat the terrorists.

Ndume stated this yesterday while addressing the residents at the Emir of Gwoza’s premises shortly after paying a sympathy visit to widows of the six members of the Civilian Joint Taskforce (CJTF), hunters and a repentant terrorist killed by an improvised explosive device (IED) planted by the terrorists which they stepped on while escorting farmers to their farmlands.

The Senator reminded the people how peace eventually returned to Gwoza after it was captured by the late Boko Haram leader, Abubakar Shekau.

He equally recalled that the dreaded Shekau then turned Gwoza to a Caliphate before the Nigerian military liberated the town from the hands of Shekau and his men, adding that out of the over 20 local government areas that were then taken over by the terrorists before their liberation, Gwoza residents were the first to return home through his efforts in collaboration with the governor, Babagana Zulum, the Nigerian Military and other security agencies.

He therefore charged them to remain resilient against the terrorists and shun any collaborative tendency towards the terrorists but assist the military and other security agencies in exposing the terrorists’ informants and colluders in their midst.

He charged the people to protect their local government area from the terrorists, urging them not to allow the relative peace being enjoyed to deteriorate.
At Wala, where the Governor Zulum is constructing 500 housing units for the residents who were sacked from their homes by the Boko Haram terrorists at the peak of the insurgency, Senator Ndume inspected the level and quality of work and commended the contractors and the labourers for a good job.

He commended the governor for embarking on the construction of the housing units noting that when completed, Wala residents will enjoy modern facilities such as streetlights which have already been fixed while boreholes, school and a health centre would be established within the housing units.
