Following the resistance and resilience of frontline troops, the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), local hunters, and vigilantes who repelled Boko Haram attacks in the Izge and Yamtake communities of Gwoza local government area of Borno state, Senator Mohammed Ali Ndume (APC Borno South) has donated three bulls and a token of N2 million to enable them to celebrate their successes against renewed attacks.
The gesture also shows appreciation for the commitment, sacrifices and bravery displayed by the troops and the local hunters in defeating an insurgency attack recently in his constituency.
Recalled that Izge and Yamtake were among the several communities attacked by renewed Boko Haram atrocities, with casualties recorded from both sides of troops and insurgents who were overwhelmed and neutralised in large numbers after recovery of their arms and ammunition before retreating to their hideouts in Sambisa Forest.
This is as the former Chairman of the Senate Committee on Army urged the federal government, especially the Military Pension Board (MPB), to immediately process and pay all entitlements and death benefits of deceased soldiers who paid the supreme price, to enable their bereaved families to cater for their economic needs.
Ndume disclosed this on Wednesday while handing over the little support to the beneficiaries in Izge and Yamtake.
The Senator who was represented by the former Chairman of Gwoza local government area, Hon. Ibrahim Abba Chukun, accompanied by other stakeholders in an interview with our Correspondent in Maiduguri, lauded the bravery displayed by troops and local hunters/vigilantes and other resilient people in the affected communities for confronting Boko Haram, even as he urged them to sustain the tempo, as according to him, peace is everyone’s business.
He noted that each bull was donated to Yamtake, Izge local hunters/CJTF, while another was handed over to the gallant troops in Izge.
He also said that the N2 million cash would be distributed amongst them to enable them to buy condiments and celebrate their success stories.
His words: “In his usual magnanimity, our Senator, Mohammed Ali Ndume has donated three bulls and N2 million cash to be shared among troops, local hunters and vigilantes who repelled Boko Haram attacks in Izge and Yamtake communities of Gwoza local government area of Borno state.
“As a former Chairman of the Senate Committee on Army, I have also urged the federal government, especially the Military Pension Board (MPB), to immediately process and pay all entitlements and death benefits of deceased soldiers who paid the supreme price, to enable their bereaved families to cater for their economic needs.
“He also used the opportunity and prayed to Allah (God) to grant Aljanatul Firdaus to the Souls of soldiers and other innocent civilians who died in the renewed Boko Haram attacks. Our Senator also prayed for a quick recovery to those who sustained injuries in the recent attacks all over the state.
Senator Ndume also asked me to laud the bravery displayed by troops, local hunters/vigilantes, and other resilient people in the affected communities for confronting Boko Haram, even as he urged them to sustain the tempo, as according to him, peace is everyone’s business”. Chukun stated.
