Former Senate leader Ali Ndume has praised the Nigerian Army for a successful operation which led to the release of 12 teenage girls abducted by Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists in the Mussa District of Askira/Uba local government area, Borno State.

The victims, aged between 15 and 20, were kidnapped last Sunday while harvesting crops on their family farmlands. A statement from the Nigerian Army indicated that the victims were freed on Saturday following a swift, intelligence-led operation by troops of Operation HADIN KAI in the southern Borno region. They have since been evacuated to a secure facility where they are receiving comprehensive medical care.

In a statement issued in Abuja, the former chairman of the Senate Committee on Army commended the gallantry and prompt response of the military personnel in Borno, whose efforts ensured the rescue of the teenage girls. Ndume particularly praised the resilience and patriotism of the troops in the North East, who continue to persevere through challenging circumstances despite the daunting obstacles they face.

He stated, “Over the weekend, members of the Nigerian Army engaged in operational theatre in Borno State achieved another significant military exercise with the successful rescue of all 12 abducted teenagers who had been in captivity. This successful operation is yet another testament to their professionalism and selflessness.
