NDYP Speaker Tasks Youths On Fight Against Cybercrime

Speaker of the Niger Youth Development Parliament (NDYP), Hon. Ifon Daniel, has urged young Nigerians to take the front seat in the fight against cybercrime and the protection of critical national infrastructure.

At the Regional Youth Convergence on Internal Security and Digital Innovation in Asaba, Delta State over the weekend, Daniel stressed the need for youth-led collaboration in national security efforts.

The event theme, “Enhancing Youth Collaboration in Safeguarding Critical National Assets and Curbing Cybercrime through Digital Innovation”, brought together youth leaders, policymakers, and digital innovators.

In his keynote address, Daniel called for a national movement where young people become “active changemakers” in shaping the country’s digital future.

He emphasised the need for ethical technology use, youth-driven innovation hubs, and stronger partnerships among young people, security agencies, and technology stakeholders.

“The youth must not be passive observers. They must lead efforts in digital governance and cybersecurity,” he said.

The speaker also highlighted ongoing NDYP collaborations with the Ministry of Interior, security agencies, and private tech firms to encourage youth participation in national development.

Participants at the event committed to building community-based digital security initiatives and expanding training programmes for young innovators.
