Senator Ned Nwoko, representing Delta North Senatorial District, has emerged winner of the Best Performing Senator of the Year at the 2025 edition of the Democracy Heroes Award.

Senator Nwoko, a former member of the House of Representatives, has gained national recognition for his dynamic performance in the Senate, which distinguished him through the quality and relevance of his legislative interventions and constituency projects

In an online voting process conducted by the organisers, Face of Democracy Nigeria (FDN), Nwoko secured 4,685 votes, accounting for 29% of the total ballots cast.

He outpaced other prominent lawmakers, including Senator Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo of Gombe State, Senator Sunday Karimi, Kogi State, Senator Abdulaziz Yari, Zamfara State, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, Abia State, and Senator Tokunbo Abiru.

The final voting figures were released on Saturday by FDN, ahead of the award’s grand finale scheduled for October 16, 2025, at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel, Abuja.

The Democracy Heroes Award is a prestigious national recognition platform that celebrates excellence in public service. It honours elected officials, entrepreneurs, and creative industry leaders who have made outstanding contributions to Nigeria’s democratic development, social stability, and economic progress.

According to the Project Director of FDN, Olufunsho Ajagbonna, popularly known as Fajag, the award aims to encourage good governance by recognising those who have shown exemplary leadership and commitment to public service. He congratulated all the awardees and reaffirmed FDN’s commitment to promoting accountability and impactful governance.
