North East Development Commission (NEDC) has reaffirmed its commitment to collaborate with the Nigerian Society Of Engineers (NSE) on rebuilding the North East region.
The chief executive officer of NEDC, Mohammed Alkali, who disclosed this when the management of NSE paid him a courtesy visit yesterday in Abuja, said NSE was one of its key partners in the execution of projects in the region.
On the impact of the destruction of the region, he said the region had been devastated in the past 13 years, adding that engineers were needed in rebuilding the region.
“The MoU with NSE is already operational and will be more functional. The grey areas in the MoU will be discussed. We have concluded our master plan. There are over 530 projects in the master plan,” he said.
Earlier, the president of NSE, Tasiu Sa’ad Gidari-Wudil, said the purpose of the visit was to work out modalities for strengthening its existing relationship.
He said, “It is worthy of note that the leadership of NSE, through our Presidential Committee on North-East Rehabilitation and Development has watched with keen interest, the efforts of your Commission in the attainment of her mandate; rehabilitation and reconstruction of the North-East region.”
To this end, he said the NSE was eager to stand with the commission to ensure that it succeeded in its mandate.
