North East Development Commission (NEDC) has reconstructed three bridges and culverts on the Bauchi-Gombe Expressway to avoid seasonal cut off of residents in the two states.

LEADERSHIP reports that the bridges at Bara, Kalajanga, and Tashan Turmi collapsed twice separately in the last two rainy seasons, forcing commuters plying the road to Gombe, Adamawa, and Taraba through Gombe to take longer and deplorable routes to their destinations.

Speaking to journalists after inspecting work on one of the construction sites at Kalajanga community, the supervisor of the projects, Jacob Joseph, said construction on the site had reached about 50 percent and would be completed soon.

He said Triacta Nigeria Limited, the firm that was awarded the projects, is expected to complete the work before the full commencement of this year’s rainy season.

“As you can see, work is progressing steadily, I can tell you that we have done more than 50 percent of the work. In the next three weeks, we will deliver this one and move to the next spot. Our men are already there to create a diversion to enable us to begin,” he said.
