North East Development Commission (NEDC) has pledged to install a solar electricity system and motorised borehole at Kalajanga village in Kirfi local government area of Bauchi State.
The commission’s managing director, Mohammed Alkali, made the pledge yesterday when he led the House of Representatives on a project inspection tour in the village.
Earlier, the community leader who holds the traditional title of Galadiman Kalajanga, Malam Ali Bakuros, expressed gratitude to the commission for the bridge construction, which he said would curb flooding in the area.
Malam Ali also complained of lack of drinking water in the community for decades and asked the commission to help.
The projects were inspected along with National Assembly Committee on NEDC led by its chairman Hon Usman Zanna.
The project manager, Engr. Imran Amina Khan of Triacta Nigeria Ltd, who conducted the team round the project, said the bridge bisecting the village was almost 80 per cent complete.
The House of Representatives Committee on NEDC chairman, Hon Usman Zannah, said the visit was to ascertain how judiciously the public funds with the commission are being spent in the state.
