NEDC Trains Borno Private Security Agents On Intelligence Gathering

North East Development Commission (NEDC), in collaboration with Abubakar Tatari Ali Polytechnic Bauchi has trained 20 representatives of various private security agents and volunteer security groups on rudiments of security operations.

The three-day training which began on Monday and ended Wednesday, saw the participants trained on the rudiments of security operations such as intelligence gathering, crime detection among others.

After the award of certificates to the participants, the training officer, Musa Yakubu said the essence of the training was to impact rudiments of security operations to the private security personnel in view of the security challenges facing the North-East region at the moment.

“The quantum of volume of the training encompasses almost all that is required of the private security agents to tackle insecurity in their operations. The programe is being held in all the six states of the North-east, namely, Adamawa, Taraba, Gombe, Yobe, Bauchi and Borno states,” he said while charging the participants to be loyal and dedicated to all the training technicalities and enlightenment contents.

The Borno State coordinator of the programme, Engr Mohammed Umar, urged all the  participants to  count themselves lucky and appreciate the efforts of NEDC in blending them with the technicalities of security challenges, including terrorism, insurgency and other crimes.

Some of the participants expressed satisfaction with the training, noting that the programme would empower and equip them with requisite knowledge on how to effectively combat crime and insecurity in the Northeast region.

The training was tagged: “The role of informal security operatives in combating insecurity in the North East region.”
