New Abuja Lions Club President Pledges Renewed Commitment To Service

The newly elected President of the Abuja Metropolitan Lions Club (AMLC) District 404-A2 Lion Hadiza Abutu-Ibrahim has assured Nigerians of compassionate and people-centered service, reaffirming the club’s commitment to humanitarian initiatives that touch lives and strengthen communities.

Abutu-Ibrahim, elected as the 16th President of the club while speaking in Abuja over the weekend at the investiture and installation of board of directors for the 2025-2026 Lions service year emphasized that her leadership will focus on “service from the heart,” aimed at making a tangible difference in society.

Abutu-Ibrahim revealed that her tenure will revolve around five key pillars of service which includes youth empowerment, healthcare initiatives, hunger relief, education support and environmental interventions.

She noted with her tested and trusted team members who will give their talent, time and treasure in serving humanity, challenges though inevitable will be surmounted.

Abutu-Ibrahim however charged the members to be consistent in paying their dues and to serve humanity from the heart, noting that their cooperation and commitment will define the success of the new service year.

District Governor of Lions Club International, District 404-A2 Nigeria, Lion Elder Ezekiel Umoh, commended the new President for her leadership and the overwhelming support she has received from members.

Lion Umoh noted that the Abutu-Ibrahim has demonstrated commitment and compassion, qualities he described as vital to the success of the world’s leading humanitarian organization.

Lion Umoh emphasized that the Lions Club, which operates in more than 210 countries, is devoted to improving the lives of the less privileged stating that members undergo extensive training and orientation to ensure accountability and transparency in service.

“No one comes to divert funds for personal use, All we seek is to make life better for the less privileged, to give them a sense of belonging, and to help them testify about the goodness of God through our collective efforts.”

The District Governor however urged Nigerians to embrace sincerity, love, and a spirit of giving, lamenting that selfishness and neglect of others remain major social challenges.

“When people think only about themselves and forget others, society suffers, we must show love, sincerity, and genuine concern for one another if we want real change.”.he stated.

Lion Umoh expressed optimism that continued orientation and commitment among members would strengthen the club’s humanitarian impact across communities.

Dr. Lami Onayi-Ahmed, on her part urged the club’s newly elected leaders to continue their long-standing tradition of service to the less privileged.

Dr. Onayi-Ahmed commended the members for their dedication over the past 16 years, noting that their efforts align closely with the thematic areas of the international association, which has a legacy spanning 180 years.

“All those who have taken on leadership today are seasoned Lions who have served in various capacities.

“My charge to them is to continue pursuing the values of the association and to implement projects that directly impact the lives of the less privileged, as they have been doing.”

Dr. Onayi-Ahmed expressed confidence that under the leadership of the newly elected president, the club’s achievements would reach even greater heights.

“Abutu-Ibrahim is well-positioned to build on the club’s successes and take its humanitarian initiatives to a higher level”. she added.
