The management of Nextar Group has commended the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for exempting bread and other essential food items from Value Added Tax (VAT) in the tax reform laws and reaffirmed its commitment to youth empowerment.
The group, however, called on the government to focus on critical infrastructure, especially energy security and road networks to lower production costs and enable businesses to thrive.
The managing director and chief executive officer (MD/CEO) Nextar Group, Mrs Bukola Adewumi, stated these on Sunday at the end-of-year party for the staff members in Abuja.
Adewumi, represented by the quality control manager, Mr Olusola Omotosho, said the exemption of basic food items from VAT has provided direct relief to Nigerian families.
She said, “We acknowledge the progress made within our national landscape. The administration’s move to exempt basic food items from VAT has provided direct relief for the Nigerian family.
“As we look toward the Tax Reform Bills for 2026, the protection for food, medical services, and education is a commendable stride. To further this momentum, we humbly suggest that the government continues to look toward critical infrastructure, specifically energy security and road networks, to help lower production costs and allow businesses like ours to thrive truly,”.
While thanking the staff, chain of distributors, and partners, she said their dedication had helped transform Nextar from a simple bakery into a household name woven into the fabric of the nation’s daily life.
“To all our staff across every single department: you are the living, breathing story of our success.
You have transformed Nextar from a simple bakery into a household name woven into the fabric of daily life.
“This year, we remained fiercely committed to investing in lives, creating meaningful pathways for the vibrant, ambitious youth of the FCT and beyond.
“By empowering this next generation, we are doing more than baking bread; we are helping to bake futures, stability, and hope for families”.
