NFF Denies Knowledge Of Super Eagles Coach’s $130,000 Monthly Salary Demand

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has swiftly refuted widespread social and online media reports suggesting that Super Eagles head coach, Eric Chelle, is seeking a substantial new contract that would see his monthly earnings skyrocket to $130,000 USD.

Currently, the Malian tactician is understood to be receiving $50,000 USD per month from the NFF. However, speculation has been rife following Chelle’s enhanced profile after leading Nigeria to a third-place finish at the recently concluded 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, a performance that reportedly drew interest from French club Marseille.

Reports indicate that Chelle’s alleged demands extend beyond a significant pay rise to cover his entire technical staff and personal assistant. Further purported stipulations include:

A private SUV with a chauffeur and security detail.
A secure residence with a guaranteed 24-hour power supply.
A fully furnished office equipped with a projector for analysis and internet access.
Business class flight tickets for his wife and himself, with economy class for his two children.
GPS provision and the supply of appropriate coaching equipment.

Chelle is also said to be seeking greater autonomy, including the right to select international friendly matches and camping programmes, initiate youth development initiatives, and travel abroad to scout and engage with national team players. Domestically, he reportedly desires the provision to attend local league matches to identify potential talent for the senior national team, as well as the U23, U20, and U17 squads.

When approached for comment, Dr Ademola Olajire, the NFF’s Director of Communication, explicitly denied any awareness of such demands from Chelle. “Sincerely, I am not aware,” he stated, dismissing the claims.
