In a significant development for African football, Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau, the president of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has officially assumed office as president of the WAFU Zone B, on Tuesday.

The ceremonial takeover took place at the WAFU headquarters in the Cocody Rivera 4 area of Abidjan, Ivory Coast, marking a new chapter for the regional football federation.

Gusau’s elevation to the prestigious role comes on the heels of the election of Mr. Kurt-Edwin Simeon Okraku, the president of the Ghana Football Association, into the CAF Executive Committee during the congress held in Egypt on March 12, 2025. Following this election, Okraku was appointed as CAF’s second Vice President, creating a ripple effect within the leadership of West African football.

The event was attended by various dignitaries and representatives from member-associations, all eager to witness the transition of leadership and the future direction of football in the region.

Gusau’s presidency is expected to bring a renewed focus on developing football infrastructure, enhancing grassroots programmes, and fostering better collaboration among member nations in WAFU Zone B.
