Worship for Change, a non-profit dedicated to supporting orphans and children with special needs, has donated N36.125 million to six charities across Nigeria.

The cheque presentation took place in Surulere, Lagos, and benefitted six charities: Gold Gate Mission (Michika, Adamawa State); Flora’s Trust Foundation (Lagos); Jesus Orphanage (Port Harcourt); Agbedare Jesus Care Foundation (Ibadan); Bethesda Home and School for the Blind; and Gilead Initiative (Ikorodu, Lagos).

The director of Bethesda Home and School for the Blind, Chioma Ohakwe, expressed overwhelming gratitude, saying, “Sincerely, I don’t know what to say or to do. This is beyond my expectations. When I was coming, I thought maybe it would be between N100,000 and N200,000, but to my surprise, it was N6.125 million. So I want to thank the team for what they have done,” she said.

Bethesda Home and School for the Blind, a non-governmental organisation that has been operating since 2005, provides free education from nursery to university for visually impaired students.
Ohakwe explained the financial challenges of educating blind students, noting the high cost of imported specialised learning materials.

“Every material these children are using in school is expensive because they are imported,” she said.

“Before a blind child can go to school, it will take a lot of money.” She added that blind students often pay double or more the fees of sighted students due to the specialised nature of their educational needs.

Founder of Agbedare Jesus Care Foundation, Ibadan, Mrs Agbedare Adenike, also expressed profound gratitude. “I don’t even know where to start from because this God is a wonderful God,” she exclaimed.

“This is like a dream because Green Worship for Change makes God real to me.”

She admitted to initial apprehension about the call from Green Worship for Change, saying, “Initially, when they called us, I was scared, but they assured us that it was not a scam.”
