Building Blocks for Peace Foundation (BBFORPEACE), an NGO dedicated to conflict prevention and peacebuilding, has conducted a training programme for female officers of the Southwest Regional Security Network, Amotekun.

The initiative received support from the Development Agenda for Western Nigeria (DAWN Commission) and Action Group on Free Civic Space (AGFCS), with the primary goal of integrating gender and human rights into community policing efforts.

The training brought together participants from Ekiti, Ondo, Ogun, Osun and Oyo states, along with representatives from the Lagos Neighbourhood Safety Corps. The participation fostered collaboration and knowledge-sharing among female officers across the Southwest region, the organisation said.

During the event yesterday, the executive director, Mr Rafiu-Adeniran Lawal, represented by the director of programmes, Ms. Stephanie Effevottu, underscored the significance of the training. He said it builds on a similar programme conducted in 2023 which focused on ethics and human rights frameworks within community policing.
