A non-governmental organisation, Initiative for Transparency and Justice (IFTAJ) has expressed support for the plans by the chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Mr Abdulrasheed Bawa, to go after some outgoing governors and other public officials after May 29.
IFTAJ made its position on Bawa’s plan known in a statement jointly signed by its national chairman, Comrade Shehu Isah Kudu and the secretary-general, Comrade Usman Mohammed Anache.
The group thanked Nigerians for voting for Ahmed Bola Tinubu as the successor of President Muhammadu Buhari, saying the fight against corruption would continue from where Buhari stopped.
It added that with Tinubu and Bawa, corruption has no hiding place in Nigeria and therefore called on the EFCC chairman to continue with his crusade without fear or favour.
The statement also condemned in totality the recent protest and calls from some so-called NGOs which include Arewa Transparency and Democratic Youths Initiatives (ATDYI), North-East Youths Assembly (NYA), Centre for Right Justice and Democratic Integrity (CRJD), Middle Belt Forum For Good Governance (MFG),South East Coalition For Leadership (SCL) and South West Alliance For Innovation and Good Governance (SAIG) for Bawa to go and face trial.
