A substantial number of beneficiaries of the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) have threatened to quit the Federal Medical Center (FMC) Jalingo and transfer their services to other hospitals due to the lack of essential drugs at the FMC.
Some of the enrollees complain that funds for the scheme have been constantly deducted from their various salaries in their offices while they hardly access the required services, especially essential drugs from the FMC.
The enrollees said they would prefer to transfer their services to hospitals where they could get the desired essential drugs for their needs.
A staff with News Agency Of Nigeria (NAN) who spoke to our correspondent on condition of anonymity said FMC Jalingo lacks essential drugs for patients especially drugs that cost from N500 and above.
“FMC Jalingo has Doctors that can conduct operations very well. My wife gave birth at the hospital recently. It was through an operation, and it was well conducted; all the tests conducted were perfect, but the only thing was that the kind of drugs we were able to get available in the hospital were drugs that cost less than N200 such as Panadol.
The Medical Director (MD) of FMC Jalingo, Dr Aisha Adamu, confirmed the lack of drugs while speaking with LEADERSHIP on the phone. She said the hospital management was aware of the situation and was doing everything possible to amend it.
