NiCare Signs MoU With Tertiary Institutions

Niger State Contributory Health Agency (NiCare) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with heads of state-owned tertiary institutions.

This agreement marked a pivotal moment in expanding access to quality and affordable healthcare services across Niger State, under the Tertiary Institutions Social Health Insurance Program (TISHIP).

The MoU aims to provide students with the healthcare services required for healthy and productive lives.

The TISHIP initiative will operationalise a social health insurance program across Niger State’s tertiary institutions.

This comprehensive healthcare coverage ensures that students can access necessary care without the burden of financial stress. The program focuses on treatment, prevention, and wellness, fostering an environment conducive to educational and institutional thriving.

Speaking during the MoU signing ceremony, executive secretary/CEO of NiCare, Sulayman Abu-bakr, said the MoU signing was more than a formal agreement, saying “It symbolises a robust commitment to the future of Niger State.

Abu-bakr emphasised the significance of this partnership in fulfilling the governor’s NEW NIGER agenda. He underscored the governor’s vision of a transformed Niger State that prioritises citizen well-being, economic growth, and inclusive progress.

Highlighting the integral role of health and wellness in education and innovation, Abu-bakr acknowledged the longstanding excellence of Niger State’s tertiary institutions. He stressed the necessity of a health foundation for these institutions, which nurture the leaders of tomorrow.

Abu-bakr’s address conveyed the profound responsibility of the state towards its citizens’ health and well-being.

He highlighted the essentiality of this MoU in safeguarding the health of students, which in turn, shapes the state’s future.
