Rapper Nicki Minaj has claimed that her application for US citizenship was being fast-tracked under Donald Trump’s administration, following her public show of support for the President.
The rapper made the claim after appearing on Wednesday at the Trump Accounts Summit in Washington, D.C., where Trump unveiled a new policy proposing a $1,000 government allocation for every child born in the United States between 2025 and 2028.
Addressing attendees at the event, Minaj openly declared her loyalty to Trump. “I am probably the president’s No. 1 fan, and that’s not going to change,” she said.
Hours later, Minaj posted an image of what she described as a “Trump Gold Card” on X, the social media platform owned by Elon Musk, a close Trump ally. The post was captioned simply: “Welp…”
In a follow-up message, Minaj suggested the card was helping to accelerate her citizenship process. “Finalising that citizenship paperwork as we speak as per MY wonderful, gracious, charming President,” she wrote, adding that the process was made possible through a petition and was “free of charge.”
Trump first announced plans for the so-called “Gold Card” in June last year via his Truth Social platform. The proposal outlines a premium investor immigration pathway, offering permanent US residency to wealthy applicants.
“For five million dollars, the Trump Card is coming,” Trump wrote at the time, describing it as a fast-track route to living in the United States. According to information on an associated website, applicants would pay a $15,000 Department of Homeland Security processing fee and make a $1 million contribution, subject to background checks.
The proposed program would function similarly to the existing EB-5 immigrant investor visa. Trump has claimed that sales of the Gold Card had reached $1.3 billion as of December.
Minaj’s claims have sparked widespread debate online, particularly amid ongoing criticism of her outspoken political support for Trump and the legal feasibility of the proposed Gold Card programme.
