The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has reduced the nomination fees for all positions for its forthcoming congress at the state, local government and ward levels.
It affirmed Baba Shehu Agaie, a former member of the House of Representatives, as the party’s leader in the state.
The party’s national treasurer, Dr Ibrahim Mani, who updated ADC’s stakeholders in Minna on the decisions of the national leadership, said the decision was to enable an inclusive contest by aspirants.
He said, “The cost of nomination forms for the ward chairman was reviewed from N30,000 to N10,000, while that of the secretary was dropped to N7,000 from N25,000 and other officers will now pay N3,000 instead of N10,000.
Mani said the party’s local government chairmanship nomination form is now N40,000 as against N250,000, the secretary was slashed to N30,000 from N200,000, while other positions were reduced to N10,000 from N100,000.
He explained that fees for nomination forms at the state level have also been reduced by 50%, saying that “for instance, state chairmanship form is now N500,000 as against the initial N1 million.”
Mani, however, said the reduction in the cost of nomination forms did not apply to national positions, adding that a former member of the House of Representatives, Baba Shehu Agaie, was ratified as the party leader in Niger State.
Meanwhile, the stakeholders have affirmed the nomination of Alhaji Umar Shuaibu as the chairman of the Niger State Leadership Coordinating Committee, Sadiq Adamu Lafu as his deputy, and Mohammed Nazil Mohammed as the committee’s secretary.
